The purpose of this caring ministry effort is to provide assistance to those in our community who may be going through a temporary financial, spiritual, or emotional crisis. A small group of volunteers continues to prayerfully consider ways that we can effectively provide assistance. Requests for such assistance are handled discreetly on a case-by-case basis.
Rotating groups of seven volunteers (from a total of 30 volunteers) visit the Light of Life Ministry Center on the North Side of Pittsburgh on the 3rd Sunday evening of each month. The purpose of this volunteer group is to serve the homeless community by serving a meal. The volunteers also provide a worship experience that shares the truth and hope of God's grace to those who attend, and by building a sense of community among those who serve and among those who they meet at the Light of Life Ministry Center.
The Wednesday night prayer meeting (7:00 PM in room S1) focuses on praying for those missionaries supported by Grace Church. During months when there is a fifth Tuesday, church members come together to pray for each of the church's ministries and committees.
The purpose of Stephen Ministry is to provide distinctively Christian care to those in our congregation who are experiencing some of the normal crises of life. Stephen Ministers are trained lay people who provide continuing follow-up care to those who are experiencing difficulty. They are broken people ministering to other broken people through the common bond of fellowship and hope that Christ provides to his own.
Faith in Action is a national program that provides good neighborly care for the elderly in our community. Our services range from transportation to shopping to friendly visits. The program runs out of the Sewickley YMCA and is coordinated by Alice Anton. Our volunteers have freedom of choice; freedom to tell us how often they want to volunteer and freedom to say "I can't" when we call. We offer NO GUILT volunteering!! Please consider this opportunity. We are in desperate need of volunteers, especially drivers. We provide excess insurance coverage and training. WE NEED YOUR HELP. Please give me a call at 724-452-0745 for more information. Thanks so much. Alice Anton Contact Information: |
