The command to sing our praises to God is repeated over fifty times in the Bible. This command should not be viewed as a chore or a burden, but as a delight and a privilege. Music is beautiful. It serves as a vehicle that helps us to remember rich biblical truths. It helps us to communicate thoughts and emotions that are unable to be expressed through words alone. It serves as one more reminder of the gracious and generous God we serve; a Creator who delights in giving us good gifts. We seek to bring honor and glory to God alone and to proclaim the gospel through the music ministries at Grace Church of Harmony. 

 

The Music ministry at GCOH consists of three branches: corporate music, choir, and Sunday School Singing Time.

 

Corporate music at GCOH is directed by a Corporate Music Committee. The committee members include the pastor(s), a Corporate Music Director, and one or more Corporate Music Advisors. Under the spiritual leadership of the pastors, Tanya Satteson is currently serving as the Corporate Music Director, with the support of Corporate Music Advisors. We have around thirty music team volunteers who diligently rehearse and prepare to help lead the congregation in music each week. Several new vocalists and instrumentalists have joined the music team over the past year and we have all been blessed by their willingness to serve God and the church body with their gifts and abilities.

 

The choir ministry at GCOH has been thriving. The weekly choir rehearsals serve not only as a time to prepare music to sing in Sunday services, but also as a time of fellowship, encouragement, and prayer. 

The Sunday School Singing Time meets each week from 9:10-9:30AM in the choir room. The children, led by Gretchen McMichael and Tanya Satteson, learn scripture songs, hymns, and classic Bible songs. Our devoted accompanists– Donna Bame on piano and Wes Woodward on guitar– serve God and the kids of GCOH each week. Rick Voegtly faithfully assists and teaches the kids (and the adults) sign language to some of the songs. We aim to provide an environment for kids of all ages to fellowship together, soak up some solid biblical truths, and learn to sing and praise God with joy and gusto.
