ABOUT JESUS

A miraculous event occurred roughly 2,000 years ago when God in human flesh entered the world.  His name was Jesus.  He was born in one of the smallest countries in the world to a poor family who was a member of a minority group.  He lived approximately 33 years on earth in which the last three were dedicated to public ministry.  Yet, He is known everywhere around the world.  In fact our entire dating system bears witness to the fact that He lived and that Jesus is one of the greatest individuals to have walked the earth.

So who is Jesus? The most scrutinized book in human history, The Bible, provides the answer:

Jesus was 100% man. He became flesh and made his dwelling among us. (John 1:14)  He can sympathize with our weaknesses and struggles as humans for he was tempted in every way.  (Hebrews 4:15)  He came to earth in human form so that He could die a physical death to take the punishment for our sin. (1 John 3:5)  When He condescended to our level and became a man, He made it possible for us to relate to Him and for God to relate to us.

Jesus was 100% God. Jesus has always existed. (John 1:1-3)  He entered our space and time to make it possible for us to relate to Him and for God to relate to us.  He performed miracles (Luke 7:22), fulfilled prophecy (John 10:30-38) and triumphed over death itself with His resurrection (Luke 24:39).  In fact, the Old Testament book of Isaiah foretells the coming of Jesus almost 1,000 years prior to his birth! (Isaiah 53:1-12

Jesus is the only way to heaven. John 14:6 declares "I am the way the truth and the life. No one comes to the father except through me." Jesus provides THE way to membership in God's family.  By rising from the grave, He ultimately proved His deity and made it possible for us to have forgiveness from sin and a relationship with God.  According to Ephesians 2:8-9, “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith - and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God - not by works, so that no one can boast.” This is different from every other world religion which is based upon some type of "work" you must do to earn your way to eternal life.  Christianity is about what has already been done for you. Acts 4:12 is clear, “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved.”

THE GOSPEL MESSAGE

The gospel is THE single most important communication from God to man. Why?  Because it is God's answer to how sinful man can be reconciled to a perfect and holy God.  In fact, the word Gospel literally translated from its Greek origin word, euangélion, means good news!

So, the gospel message must be good news, right?

The Bible actually tells us what the gospel message is in Paul's letter to the church in Corinth:

So, the gospel message must be good news, right?

The Bible actually tells us what the gospel message is in Paul's letter to the church in Corinth:

"Now I make known to you brethren, the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received, in which also you stand, by which also you are saved, if you hold fast the word which I preached to you, unless you believed in vain. For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures..."

Jesus Christ was crucified and died for the sins of the world. He was buried, and He rose again from the dead on the third day. He lives now and forever more, and He offers salvation from sin, and salvation from eternal judgment in hell, as a free gift to anyone who will repent and receive Him by faith as Savior, according to the Scriptures. This is the “Gospel” message.

Yes, it is good news indeed!
